Who has acupuncture?

Many people come to acupuncture for help with specific symptoms or conditions such as back pain or menstrual problems. Others choose acupuncture as a preventative measure to strengthen their constitution or because they feel generally unwell. Acupuncture can also be useful for those with chronic illnesses: Diane has seen much success treating Long Covid for example. Acupuncture can also be used to reduce stress, promote sleep, boost immunity and improve general well-being.

Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional medicine. It can help alleviate side effects of other medical treatments, such as relieving nausea associated with chemotherapy for instance.

Research shows that acupuncture is safe and effective in relieving symptoms of pregnancy such as morning sickness, heart burn and back pain. From week 34, moxibustion can be very successful at turning breech babies. Research also shows that pre-birth acupuncture can promote an efficient birth, decrease labour time and reduce the need for medical intervention.

Acupuncture is increasingly being used to help promote fertility and support IVF treatment.

Acupuncture is also helpful for people trying to overcome addictions such as smoking, alcohol, food or drugs.

Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages.
